Hamada Fumisei (Hamada Yoshie) was born May 29, 1913. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Yonekawa Fumiko I, earning her Shihan (master teaching license) in 1937. She belonged to the Sōchō-kai and was active as both a performer and teacher for more than 50 years.
