Tafuji Seifū (Tafuji Toshihiko) was born February 12, 1884 in Okayama Prefecture. He studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Kushida Eisei and Takahashi Eisei I and began teaching in 1905. With a career spanning 70 years, he was an advisor to the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai, head of the Fujisei-kai, and received the Order of the Sacred Treasure, 4th Class, in 1967.
