Born July 21, 1938 in Nagasaki Prefecture, Ōgushi Sekidō (Ōgushi Yasutaka) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Kiyota Shōdō, Satō Reidō, and Yamaue Getsuzan. He belonged to the Nagasaki Chikuyu-kai.
