Shibata Kōun

Shibata Kōun (Shibata Kazuo) was born March 31, 1913 in Aichi Prefecture. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Endō Kōshū and began teaching in 1957. He was affiliated with Chikuyu-sha and Gokō-kai. He was also President of the Kōun-kai. He was part of the shakuhachi world for more than 40 years.
