Nakashima Gyokudō (Nakashima Toshio) was born May 25, 1910 in Iwamizawa City, where he spent the rest of his life. During his more than 40-year career he studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ōno Tendō and began teaching in 1941. He was a member of Nihon Chikudō Gakkan.
