Matsumoto Etsudō (Matsumoto Risaburō) was born on August 23, 1900. He studied under Ogawa Nandō and began teaching in 1925. He belonged to the Shakuhachi Kyōkai. Over his 50+-year career he presided over the Kashiwachiku-kai and served as a counselor for the Japan Sankyoku Kyōkai.
