Sakamoto Yoshiko was born in Tochigi Prefecture, June 13, 1933. She studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Miyagi Michio and Sakamoto Tsutomu, earning her teaching license in 1953. She was a member of the Gyokuko-kai.
