Takemura Ayako (Miyoshi Ayako) was born in Kyoto, June 27, 1914. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Akaboshi Hatsu and Fukuda Eika, earning her Shihan (masters license) in 1932. A teacher and performer for more than 40 years, she was head of the Sōtake-kai, a member of the Mitsu-no-oto-kai, and a council member of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai.
