Born in Nagano Prefecture, September 27, 1930, Nakashio Teruko studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Nakashio Kōyū, earning her teaching license in 1960. She belonged to the Sō-Akebono-kai and was a councillor of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai.
