Born in Sapporo, March 1, 1899, Nitta Samiji II (Nitta Etsuko) studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Nitta Samiji I and Yamato Aiko. Active as a performer and teacher for more than 50 years, she was head of the Satomi-kai and director of the Sapporo Sankyoku Kyōkai.
