Misugi Ikui (Misugi Utako) was born August 13, 1927. She studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Kojima Somei earning her teaching credentials in 1947. She belonged to the Shōju-kai and was a council member of the Japan Sankyoku Association.
