Samoto Kakumi (Samoto Mitsuko) was born in Yamaguchi Prefecture, May 24, 1934. She studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Watanabe Kashō. She began teaching in 1966 and was affiliated with the Chikushi-kai.
