Born in Nagano Prefecture, June 29, 1921, Tomiyoshi Takeko (Mizoguchi Takeko) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Kikuhara Kotoji and Tomizaki Shunshō, earning her teaching license in 1940. Active as a teacher and performer for more than 50 years, she was a member of the Nagano Prefecture Sankyoku Kyōkai and the Hokushin Sankyoku Kyōkai.
