Born December 12, 1905 in Tokyo, Kataoka Seidō (Kataoka Shizuo) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Suzuki Kōdō. He was active in the shakuhachi world for more than 40 years and belonged to the Kochiku-kai.
