Kobashi Mikiko (Takakusa Mikiko) was born in Okayama Prefecture, October 6, 1910. She studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Onoda Mie, Akiyama Chiyoko, and Miyagi Michio. She graduated from Tokyo Music School (now Tokyo University of the Arts), where she later became a lecturer. She accrued over 60 years experience as a performer, recording artist, and a teacher, as well as being an executive director of the Miyagi-kai and a planning committee member of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai.
