Born September 3, 1940 in Morioka City, Kurosawa Kazuo studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Gotō Sumiko and Satō Eiko. He graduated from the NHK Seminary and received the Bronze Award at the 9th World Youth and Student Peace and Friendship Festival. He was a member of the Yonin-no-kai ensemble and the group Mugi, as well as co-founder of the Kurosawa Koto School.
